Artist Q&A: Jadell Santana

Where do you live/work?

I live in the Bronx and because I get to work from home I often travel to the Dominican Republic and spend long periods of time there.

What themes do you explore in your work?

I love nature; most of my artworks are inspired by nature's blue skies and green trees.

What has your art journey been like?

As a self taught artist, my art journey has been a fun adventure. Learning to mix colors, create different shades and layering colors have been one of the most challenging things on my journey.

Who are some artists/art professionals that you admire?

I admire Sari Shryack, Heather Ihn and Tiffany Alfonseca; I love their color palette and how they can make every day objects look like works of art.

What does a typical day look like for you?

On a typical day I'm working in my studio whether it be painting, organizing, planning or cleaning. I'm often looking for ways to learn new things and challenge myself.

Where do you find inspiration?

I like to travel; I find my inspiration in nature, every day life and all the colors that surround me.
