Jency Sekaran, a New York City based multimedia artist. Sekaran’s artwork explores themes of identity, womanhood & the impact of being a 3rd culture child in today’s society as an Indian-American..

Through printmaking and embroidery, Jency is able to feel closer to her motherland and create work that depicts the story of powerful brown women breaking free of cultural and societal norms.

Jency uses images that respond to breaking societal and cultural norms of both American and South Asian upbringing by placing women in westernized poses, different body types, melanated skin, and indowestern clothing. In 2022, she was accepted into BIG INK and multiple group shows throughout New York City showcasing her artwork in printmaking and embroidery. Jency has also been published as a featured artist in the Artivist and The Mag With Love zine.
